Eighteen years on from the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Germany is playing host once again to a major football tournament. Twenty-four teams are in contention for Euro 2024—including defending champions Italy, World Cup runner-up France, Euro 2020 runner-up England, and the likes of Spain, Croatia, Portugal, and Netherlands—which will be spread across a full month. Of the 10 cities hosting Euro 2024, nine were used in that World Cup: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart. The only new one is Düsseldorf, previously one of the stages in the 1988 Euros and the 1974 World Cup. Thanks to Germany’s love for football, even the smallest stadium can seat 46,200 spectators.

Of course, there will be a lot more people tuning into Euro 2024 through their TV sets. A total of 51 matches will be played, starting with 36 group stage fixtures and followed by 14 knockout games before culminating in the final on July 14.
