Time to head back to bloody Purvanchal. After more than three years off-screen, Mirzapur is back for its third season on Prime Video. The ultra-violent series will pick up where it left off, with Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) now ruling Mirzapur. Meanwhile, Guddu’s chief rival Sharad Shukla (Anjumm Shharma) is at Jaunpur, Shatrughan Tyagi (Vijay Varma) is at Siwan posing as his dead twin brother, and Madhuri Yadav (Isha Talwar) has climbed into the upper echelons as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. “Season 3 is about whether they will be able to justify the power they wield and how they deal with it. Power does strange things to people,” Mirzapur director and executive producer Gurmmeet Singh said.

Singh has been with the Amazon series since the beginning, having directed episodes of both the first and second seasons. He’s the leading director for the third season of Mirzapur alongside Anand Iyer (Love in the Time of Corona). Season 3 has been developed by Apurva Dhar Badgaiyan (Afwaah, Chaman Bahaar), with Avinash Singh Tomar (Ankahi Kahaniya) and Cubicles creators Avinash Singh and Vijay Narayan Verma writing the majority of the new Mirzapur episodes.
