The last eight. Spain and Germany clash on Friday evening in the first Euro 2024 quarterfinal at Stuttgart. And it’ll possibly be the most exciting one of the four quarterfinal match-ups. The Spanish were excellent in their Round of 16 encounter against Georgia, especially in the second half where they looked like they would score every time they got the ball. Germany were much less impressive against the Danes. They only woke up and came to life after Denmark put the ball in the back of the net (but were denied by VAR thanks to a toe’s worth of offside). That won’t do against Spain. If the hosts aren’t firing from the start, they will find themselves out of Euro 2024 very soon. Given how everyone else has been playing, this fixture feels the closest to a potential Euro 2024 final. Will it live up to that?
