Spoilers ahead for episodes 1, 2 and 3 of The Rings of Power season 2.
Galadriel is too late. The elf commander feared that Sauron may be in Eregion, plotting the next steps, but he is already ahead of her. The third episode of the second season of The Lord of the Rings TV show ended with the dark lord, disguised as Annatar, giving life to rings for dwarves. We began season 2 with three rings and three episodes in, we are about to have seven more. Can Adar get to Sauron before he spins nine rings for men? His army is apparently ready, with a new addition in a giant hill-troll. But as the High King Gil-galad reminded us, Eregion is protected by two rivers and a 10-foot thick wall. They may have done nothing to stop Sauron when he was Halbrand but that should serve him well when the orc army approaches.
Elsewhere, Númenor is facing a bloodless coup as Pharazôn—egged on by his son and Elendil’s daughter—supplants the Queen Regent after she is derided as a murderer and for relying on ”elf sorcery”. Elendil’s son, Isildur, has to face problems of his own after being assumed dead and left behind in Middle-earth. And over in the deserts of Rhûn, our adventuring trio—Nori, Poppy and The Stranger—have been scattered to the four winds after the wizard spun up a storm he couldn’t control. What’s next for them? We know Rory Kinnear has been cast as Tom Bombadil and we’ve photos of him with The Stranger. Could episode 4 be the opportunity to introduce the beloved Tolkien character?
Following the three-episode premiere, The Rings of Power season 2 shifts into a standard routine. From here on, we’ll be treated to one new episode each week. With that, here are the release times for The Rings of Power season 2 episode 4.
